NellCarOn October 3rd, 2014, Dr. Nelly Cardinale  Associate Professor of Computer Science, was invited to attend and self-funded a trip to California to attend the, “The Latinas Think Big™ Innovation Summit”,  hosted by Google at their Mountain View, CA campus.

The objective of the event was to highlight and celebrate Latinas leaders working in or who are entrepreneurs in the STEM  (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields and create a strong education-oriented network between them. The summit is described on this page:

Being that she is a first generation American born to a family from Puerto Rico, Dr. Cardinale thought it was important attend the conference and represent, “Eastern Florida State College”, as a Latina teaching in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) field. Moreover being that Google is a top employer in the technology field and the fact that she teaches Computer Science, she also wanted to make some Google contacts and ask questions about working there, so she could relay this information to her students.
