What are the factors that determine long-term success for college students? Is it the college they attend? Or the degree they choose? The 2014 Gallup-Purdue Index Report provides education leaders, students and parents with exclusive insights from 30,000 college graduates about what it takes to have a great job and a great life.

Considering the rate at which graduates thrive at work:

  • 2.2x higher if students had a mentor who encouraged them to pursue their dreams
  • 1.9x higher if students had college professors who cared about them as a person
  • 2.0x higher if students had at least one professor in college who made them excited about learning
  • 2.3x higher if the graduate experienced all three!
